Stalke Cube Land

Stalke Cube Land is a permanent land art project that unfolds across several locations. The first site was established in the forests of Biskopsberg near Karlskrona, Sweden, where more than 75 cubes are scattered throughout the landscape. New areas have since been added in Björkeryd at Bräkne-Hoby, directly connected to my permanent studios and workspaces, as well as in Lejre, Kirke Sonnerup in Denmark. Additional spots are located in Norway and Iceland.

The term Stalke Cube Land applies whenever multiple cubes are gathered in one place, creating more or less permanent constellations. Works are regularly moved, exchanged, or reinstalled, allowing the project to remain in flux while retaining its continuity.

Unlike temporary projects that appear, are documented, and then vanish again, Stalke Cube Land evolves over time and serves as a living framework. The cubes function both as sculptural presences in the landscape and as working stations where experimentation takes place. They have been carried, walked with, and activated in performances across different countries – for instance Towards Sierra Nevada in Spain (2021) – as well as in countless other actions where the cubes became part of journeys and processes.
